A Modern Dredge Operation
A Modern Dredge Operation on the Upper Mississippi River. - Imagine 80 years ago the William A. Thompson on the upper Mississippi. There were three tenders - The Daniel Bates, David Harris and the Joseph Throckmorton. They were referred to as DAY BOATS or LUNCH BUCKET BOATS because these helper boats would return home at night from a hard days work moving the dredge pipelines. The Throckmorton (now the Elizabeth Lea) is the only remaining boat from the fleet. - YouTube Video by Michael Koepke Published on July 10, 2017
